You watched them lose their words. Help them find them.
AphaSay is for the patient, but it is set up by the family. This is what you need to know.
You will set this up. They will use it.
Most aphasia patients cannot complete an app onboarding by themselves. The reading is too much, the typing is too much, and the cognitive load is too much. That is normal and expected.
You, the family member, will spend about thirty minutes setting up the patient profile. You will add the names of family members, the rooms in your home, your loved one's daily routine, the medications they take, and the topics they used to talk about.
Once the profile is in, your loved one only sees one button. They tap it. They speak. The app does the rest.

The companion app gives you a window into your loved one's communication. You can see what they said today, what was reconstructed, and which sessions went well. You do not see private therapy sessions or anything they do not want shared.
You will get a weekly summary every Monday morning. It tells you how the week went. It tells you when they hit a milestone. It does not bombard you with notifications.
For families separated by distance, this is the difference between feeling out of touch and feeling involved.
You know things the AI does not.
You know that when your father says "the cold thing," he means his glass of cold water at three in the afternoon. You know that "the football game" means his Saturday match he watches with his brother. You know that "the kitchen lady" might mean his sister-in-law who comes over to cook.
When you set up the profile, you teach the AI all of this. The reconstruction quality goes up dramatically. Without your input, the AI has to guess. With your input, it gets it right most of the time.
Common questions.
What if my loved one cannot use the touchscreen at all?
AphaSay supports voice activation. They can say 'AphaSay listen' and the app will start recording. We are also working on Apple Watch support so they can tap to record from their wrist.
What if their speech is too broken for any AI to figure out?
For severely impaired patients, the AI will frequently ask for confirmation. This is honest. We do not want to put words in their mouth. For very severe cases, the Quick Phrases library may be more useful than reconstruction.
Can I correct the AI when it gets something wrong?
Yes. Every reconstruction has a thumbs down option. When you mark something as wrong, the AI logs it and adjusts future reconstructions. Over weeks, the accuracy goes up.
What does it cost for our whole family?
The Family Plan is $39.99 per month and includes up to four caregiver accounts. So both parents, plus an adult child, plus a sibling can all stay connected.
